⚖️ US Senate may miss August 8 deadline on landmark crypto bill
The U.S. Senate is running out of time to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before its summer recess begins on August 8. Senate leadership has signaled other priorities will take precedence, effectively sidelining the bill for now.
If Congress fails to act, the SEC retains authority to shape crypto market rules through enforcement and agency action — a path the industry has long opposed. The CLARITY Act is considered one of the most significant crypto regulatory proposals in U.S. history, aimed at defining jurisdiction between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets.
A missed deadline does not kill the bill permanently, but delays meaningful regulatory clarity for the crypto market into the fall at the earliest.
