Okpekpe Indigenous athletes share N8m road race windfall

Six athletes indigenous to Okpekpe, a community in Edo State, Nigeria, have shared N8 million in prize money from this year's Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, with organisers hailing the payout as evidence that the event continues to benefit its host community directly.

The funds were paid into the athletes' bank accounts last week under a special scheme set aside solely for indigenous competitors from Okpekpe.
