This grass is known as Pepper Elder or Shining Bush Grass
Scientific name: Peperomia pellucida
Local names: Silverbush, Clearweed, "Ase Iwe" in Yoruba
A small, soft, light-green herb with shiny, heart-shaped leaves. Common in damp places, gardens, and around our homes but much seen in Port Harcourt. Some people call it Peppery grass because it has a peppery taste.
Used by our grandparents for centuries as both food and medicine in Africa, Asia, and South America.
Health Benefits of _Peperomia pellucida
