On July 4, 2003, soul maestro Barry White passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at age 58. His death followed months of hospitalisation after a severe stroke left him partially paralysed and unable to speak.
The legendary singer had also spent nearly a year undergoing dialysis due to chronic kidney failure brought on by severe high blood pressure.

His passing was a profound loss to the music world, silencing one of the most iconic voices in R&B history. The tragedy came just four years after his major career comeback with his final Grammy-winning album, Staying Power, cutting short his final era of creative resurgence
