The South African government has said Nigerians who lost businesses and properties during recent xenophobic attacks can still pursue legal ownership of those assets if they can provide proof that they are the rightful owners. 🇿🇦🇳🇬

Officials say legally registered businesses, homes, vehicles and other assets remain protected under South African law, while unregistered or illegally occupied properties will not qualify.

The clarification comes as Nigeria continues to document losses suffered by its citizens following the attacks.
