A 300 level university student helped his girlfriend gain admission into the same school. While she stayed in the hostel initially, he lived in a well-furnished self contained apartment. She spent most of her time with him, and before long, it felt like they were living together.

After he graduated, he left the apartment for her to use while he went for his mandatory service year. He didn't just leave the room, he left it fully furnished with all his belongings, trusting her completely.

Before his service year ended, things began to change. Whenever he called, her phone was often unreachable. She always had an excuse, usually blaming it on poor electricity and a dead phone battery.

Then one day, after trying unsuccessfully to reach her for two days, someone else answered her phone and bluntly warned him, "Don't ever call this number again."

Confused and heartbroken, he traveled to her school to find out what was happening. He went straight to the apartment he had left for her. She wasn't there, but he noticed something that shattered him, there were men's clothes hanging alongside hers.

He called her immediately and asked where she was.

"I'm at home," she replied.

"Which home? Your parents' house?" he asked.

"No," she said confidently. "I'm in the same house you know."

Little did she know, he was already standing inside that very apartment.

He later met some people they both knew on campus. They told him she now had a new boyfriend and that the two had been living together in the apartment. They were surprised to learn she and her former boyfriend were still officially together.

Shocked, he couldn't believe it. "The same apartment I left for her? With all my furniture and belongings?"

He called her again and calmly told her he was around and needed the keys to his apartment.

The moment she realized he was truly there, her tone changed completely.

A while later, she returned alone. Instead of defending herself, she broke down and began begging him for forgiveness.

Now the question is:

Was she begging because she was truly sorry and still loved him?

Or was she only afraid of losing the apartment and everything that came with it?

If you were in his position, what would you do?

Would you allow her to keep the apartment, or would you reclaim your property and ask her to leave?
