FALANA URGES LABOUR UNIONS TO PUSH FOR BROADER SOCIOECONOMIC REFORMS

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has called on labour unions to broaden their advocacy beyond demands for higher wages, urging them to also champion improved housing, healthcare, and social welfare for Nigerian workers.

According to Falana, while wage increases remain important, sustainable improvements in workers’ welfare require access to affordable housing, quality healthcare, functional education, and comprehensive social protection.

He stressed that labour unions should continue engaging government at all levels to ensure policies that improve the overall quality of life for workers and their families.
