BREAKING NEWS: 🇳🇬🪖COAS APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF GOCs TO NEWLY ESTABLISHED NIGERIAN ARMY DIVISIONS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the appointment of General Officers Commanding (GOCs) to the newly established Nigerian Army Divisions, following Presidential approval for the creation of four additional Divisions. This landmark development aims to strengthen the Army's force structure, expand its operational footprint, and enhance command and control.

The newly established Divisions will commence operations upon attaining Initial Operational Capability (IOC), with deliberate measures to progressively achieve Full Operational Capability (FOC).

3 Division Jos Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe

5 Division Makurdi Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi

6 Division Port Harcourt Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River

7 Division Maiduguri Borno, Yobe

8 Division Sokoto Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara

9 Division Ilorin Kwara, Niger

10 Division Jalingo Taraba, Adamawa

81 Division Lagos Lagos, Ogun

82 Division Enugu Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo

83 Division Benin City Edo, Delta, Bayelsa (to be activated later)

GOC APPOINTMENTS:

🛑 Maj Gen Yakubu Yahaya – GOC 9 Division & Commander, OPSS (Ilorin)

🛑 Maj Gen Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife – GOC 10 Division (Jalingo)

🛑 Maj Gen Moses Gara – GOC 5 Division & Commander, OPWS (Makurdi)

🛑 Maj Gen Auwalu Mahmuda – GOC 2 Division (Ibadan)

NEW BRIGADES ACTIVATED:

♦️ 11 Brigade, Gboko – Brig Gen AO Odubiyi (Commander)

♦️ 29 Brigade, Kainji – Brig Gen AM Haruna (Commander)

♦️ 10 Brigade, Lafia – Brig Gen RM Aminu (Commander)

The COAS congratulated the new commanders and charged them to provide visionary leadership, sustain operational momentum, and uphold professionalism. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast support and strategic investment in expanding the Army's operational capabilities.

The new Divisions will enhance command and control, improve operational coordination, strengthen border security, and enable faster deployment of troops and resources.
