⚽ Zidane confirmed as France head coach on four-year deal

Zinedine Zidane has been officially appointed as France's new head coach, the French Football Federation confirmed on Tuesday. The 54-year-old succeeds Didier Deschamps, who ended his 14-year tenure following France's semi-final exit to Spain at the 2026 World Cup.

Zidane, a World Cup winner with France in 1998 and one of the most decorated managers of his generation, has been out of coaching since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. He has signed a four-year contract, covering the 2030 World Cup qualifying cycle.

"There's nothing greater than the French national team. It's a joy and a great source of pride," Zidane said. "It's the only job I wanted." FFF president Philippe Diallo hailed the appointment as "a source of immense pride," calling Zidane a legend leading a team with "rare potential and the highest ambitions."
