S&P Global announced on 28 July 2026 that it has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Agusto & Company Limited, a Pan-African rating agency with operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana. The agreement is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of required regulatory approvals, and completion is expected during the second half of 2026 (S&P Global company release, 28 July 2026).

Four elements of the transaction remain undisclosed. S&P Global did not state the purchase price, the percentage stake acquired, the funding structure or the identity of the selling shareholders. It confirmed that the transaction is not expected to have a material impact on the financial results of S&P Global or S&P Global Ratings.

Ownership has not changed. Until the transaction closes, Agusto & Co. remains outside S&P Global’s ownership and its outstanding ratings remain issued under its existing methodologies. Agusto & Co. is not, at the date of this report, acquired, controlled or owned by S&P Global.

The transaction is expected to close during the second half of 2026, subject to required regulatory approvals. Following completion, Agusto & Co. will continue to operate as a separate ratings entity and issue its own ratings and methodologies.
