THE DIFFERENCE OF DIFFERENT ROOTS
The vegetable should not compete with the palm tree, just as a corn stalk should not compare itself with a coffee plant. Yam is not rice, and none of them were created to become the other. We were all planted but not all seeds were designed to grow the same way. Our roots differ. Our depths differ. Our forms differ. Our assignments differ.
So let not the palm tree teach depth with absolutism, as though every plant must reach the same depth before it can bear fruit. The vegetable does not need the depth of a palm tree to produce its harvest. Its calling demands a different measure of rooting, yet it is no less fruitful. One of the greatest freedoms in life comes from knowing who we are. Self-awareness frees us from unhealthy comparison and from borrowing standards that were never meant for us. When we understand our uniqueness, we also understand the depth required for our own peculiar purpose.
The lesson is not to avoid being rooted but to be rooted according to our design. Every healthy plant is buried before it flourishes. Every fruitful life develops unseen roots before it produces visible fruit. Do not measure your journey by another person's design. Grow according to the wisdom of the one who planted you. Be deeply rooted where your purpose requires and you will flourish in the uniqueness for which you were created.
The goal is not to have the deepest roots; the goal is to have roots deep enough for the life you were created to bear.
