🚨 31 Vulnerabilities Found in x402 Crypto Payment Protocol

Researchers have uncovered 31 vulnerabilities in x402, a crypto payment protocol, exposing attack vectors that affect 99% of observed transactions across 15 operators.

Two "free shopping" exploits — where attackers obtain goods or services without valid payment — were fully validated. Additional high-impact attack scenarios were tested but deliberately bounded by researchers to avoid real-world harm. The flaws open doors to asset theft and payment bypass at scale.

x402 is a machine-to-machine crypto payment standard built on HTTP, increasingly used in Web3 and AI agent workflows. With adoption growing, the attack surface is now clearly significant — and largely unpatched.
