First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerian healthcare professionals in the diaspora to sustain their support for the country’s health sector through knowledge transfer, mentorship and specialist training. Speaking at the 2026 National Diaspora Merit Awards, where she received the Diaspora Health and Humanity Champion Award, she announced that 70 medical professionals under the Diaspora Health Impact Initiative (DHII) will return to Nigeria to conduct medical missions, provide specialist training and strengthen healthcare capacity nationwide.
Mrs Tinubu reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to building a resilient healthcare system, while NiDCOM praised Nigerians abroad for their contributions to national development through investments, humanitarian interventions and professional excellence. The awards celebrated outstanding Nigerians whose achievements continue to advance healthcare, education, philanthropy and Nigeria’s global reputation.
