Patience Is Not a Policy

Nigeria is a nation blessed with extraordinary minds, abundant natural resources, and limitless potential. Yet, despite these gifts, millions of its citizens wake each day wondering how they will afford their next meal or protect their families from growing insecurity.

A minimum wage of ₦70,000 may satisfy a government statistic, but it does not satisfy the realities of the marketplace. Food prices continue to rise, transportation has become a luxury for many, and decent housing is slipping beyond the reach of ordinary workers. A wage should guarantee dignity, not merely survival.

What is perhaps even more painful is the repeated call for patience. Nigerians have been patient through economic reforms, fuel subsidy removals, currency devaluations, and countless promises of a brighter tomorrow. Patience is a virtue, but it cannot become a substitute for results.

The question is no longer whether Nigerians are willing to endure hardship. They already have. The question is whether leadership will match the resilience of its people with policies that create jobs, restore security, strengthen institutions, and improve lives.

Nigeria does not lack talent. It does not lack opportunity. What it cannot afford is another generation asked to wait while its future slips further away.

A nation survives on hope, but it progresses through action.
