Babachir Lawal: Tinubu Smokes Lots Of Silk Cigarettes, Can't Do Without Them

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is addicted to cigarettes.

Speaking on Saturday in an interview on Symfoni TV, Lawal claimed Tinubu particularly likes Silk cigarettes and "can't do without" them.

He described Tinubu as an unhealthy man who frequently travels to France for medical treatment, saying his health challenges are publicly known. Lawal advised the President to focus on his health after completing his first four-year term, arguing that declining health and age reduce performance.

According to Lawal, Tinubu does not enjoy elaborate food. He said Tinubu often eats just banana and groundnut in the morning, and sometimes pap (ogi) and moimoi.

Lawal also said he doesn't understand allegations that Tinubu amassed excessive wealth, because the Tinubu he knew before becoming president was not a lover of luxury, was often unkempt and improperly dressed.

He recalled that Tinubu would come out in pajamas to pose for pictures with visitors, which he had to warn his aides against, insisting that Tinubu is not someone who revels in luxury.
