7. Freedom Park – Lagos
Once a colonial prison, Freedom Park has been transformed into a lively cultural center. Today it hosts music performances, art exhibitions, festivals, and community events while preserving an important part of Nigeria's history.
Freedom Park is a historic cultural and recreational park on Lagos Island. Originally known as Her Majesty's Broad Street Prison during the colonial era, it was transformed into a public park and officially opened in 2010 to commemorate Nigeria's 50th Independence anniversary. Today, it serves as a venue for concerts, art exhibitions, festivals, theater performances, and community events while preserving an important part of Nigeria's history.
