UNPOPULAR OPINION: Social media is becoming one of the biggest threats to Africa's next generation.

Read that again.

A child opens a brand-new social media account.

Before they even follow a single person, they're already being served explicit content, scams, fake news, violent videos, and hate-filled posts.

And we've started calling it "normal."

It isn't.

The UK and Australia are demanding greater accountability from social media companies to better protect children.

Why is Nigeria and much of Africa still treating this as someone else's problem?

This is NOT about silencing opinions.

This is about protecting children before algorithms shape them more than parents, teachers, and society do.

If social media companies can predict what you'll buy, who you'll vote for, and what you'll watch next, they can certainly do more to protect children.

Our children should never be the price of engagement and profit.

Africa's greatest resource isn't beneath the ground.

It's the generation growing up with a phone in their hands.
