James 1:19 (AMP) teaches a timeless principle for healthy relationships and spiritual maturity:

> "Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words], and slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]."

Reflection

God calls His people to develop self-control in how they interact with others.

Be quick to hear – Listen attentively before forming conclusions. Careful listening shows respect, wisdom, and love.

Be slow to speak – Think before you speak. Words have the power to heal or to hurt, so choose them wisely.

Be slow to anger – Anger often leads to poor decisions and damaged relationships. Patience and forgiveness reflect the character of Christ.

When we practice listening, speaking wisely, and controlling our anger, we become peacemakers and allow God's wisdom to guide our actions rather than our emotions.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to listen with understanding, speak with wisdom, and respond with patience. Guard my heart against anger and teach me to reflect Your love in every conversation. May my words bring peace, encouragement, and honor to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
