Why observe Pluto on July 27? 🔭

Because the dwarf planet will be at its best!

On July 27, 2026, at 06:48 GMT, Pluto will reach opposition, placing it in the best position for observation from Earth. It will appear opposite the Sun in the sky, meaning it will be fully illuminated by sunlight and remain visible for most of the night.

However, Pluto is so far away that even at opposition, it will still be extremely faint. With a magnitude of 14.4, it will only be visible through a telescope — and even then, it will look like a tiny dot.
