I Know That Obi and Kwankwaso Are Obasanjo Boys. I Don’t Know Why He Has Hatred for Atiku- Najaatu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Deputy National Chairman for the North West, Hajia Najaatu Mohammed, has questioned former President Olusegun Obasanjo's opposition to the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking during an interview published by The Sun Nigeria on Sunday, July 26, 2026, Najaatu stated that the political activities of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, appeared to be closely connected to Obasanjo.

According to her, the former president's longstanding disagreements with Atiku had continued to shape developments within the opposition.

She questioned the relationship between the former president and the two prominent opposition figures, particularly as Obi has emerged as the NDC's presidential candidate, with Kwankwaso as his running mate.

"It is believed and I know for sure that Obi and Kwankwaso are Obasanjo boys. I don’t know why Obasanjo has such hatred for Atiku. And he can do anything to ensure that Atiku does not become the President. So these two Obasanjo boys are really not contesting against any other person but Atiku," she said.

According to Najaatu, the emerging political alignment could have significant consequences for President Bola Tinubu's chances in the next election.

Her comments came amid a recent allegation by Obasanjo against his former vice president, whom he accused of supporting an alleged plot to remove him from office during their first term in government.

Obasanjo alleged that Atiku had induced leaders of the House of Representatives to support an impeachment move against him.

Atiku, however, dismissed the allegation as a politically motivated fabrication.
