JESUS OUR ADVOCATE (Part 2)
1st John 2:1 My little children, these things write I to you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: Vs 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
The above text refers to Believers. Jesus is our Advocate with the Father when we sin, So the Holy Ghost knew that sons of God would sin.
This refers to Believers. Jesus is our Advocate with the Father when we sin, so the Holy Ghost knew that sons of God would sin.
Under the New Covenant, the recipients are called sons of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
He will be merciful to their unrighteousness based on the blood.
'I will remember no more' means it is not in your account. The recipients of the new covenant are called sons.
Hebrews 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Vs 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Ephesian 1:3-10
From salvation, to adoption it is the good pleasure of his will.
1st John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
'Bestow' is the word that means to lavish. He used the word ‘lavish’ because the recipients do not deserve it. To lavish means to spend on someone carelessly. Our relationship with God is that we are his sons. Being a son has to do with inheritance. Sons are those that receive an inheritance.
Christ is our wisdom, righteousness and redemption.
1st Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
He said so because there is nothing that came from you. You can only glory in his testimony.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
The faith we got is the faith of the son of God.
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
He is saying in Habakkuk 2:4 that we will be justified by the faith of Christ.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
The Epistles did not use 'his faith' because it was already implied in the teaching. We are also called new creations in Christ.
2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Vs 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.Vs 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Christianity is what Christ has done. At the hearing of the gospel, you received what Jesus gave by faith.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of ourfaith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The word 'author' means the source; one who originates something. Christ is the source of faith.
Galatians 3:22-29
The phrase 'bring us' is in italics. The original text reads thus: 'the law was our schoolmaster until Christ.'
He calls everything Jesus has done faith.
Confession: I have been baptized into Christ. I have put on Christ. I am a son of God.
