THEY'RE NOT JUST BANDITS. THEY'RE A PARALLEL GOVERNMENT.
Reports of armed bandits forcing communities in Sokoto to PAY TAXES before they can farm their own land?
This isn't "just" insecurity. This is a sovereignty crisis.
Think about it: When a gunman collects "taxes" and decides who eats, who farms, who lives he becomes the REAL authority. The government becomes a suggestion. The constitution becomes wallpaper.
This isn't new in parts of Nigeria. But it should NEVER become normal.
Here's what needs to happen NOW:
✅ RECLAIM THE RURAL SPACE
Deploy coordinated security forces with intelligence support, not just occasional patrols.
✅ FIX THE POLICING GAP
Community policing that actually works, not paperwork. Local intel. Local trust. Local backup.
✅ INVEST IN THE YOUTH
An idle hand is a recruited hand. Skills. Jobs. Purpose. Starve the bandits of their recruitment pool.
✅ POLITICAL WILL, NOT POLITICAL TALK Every inch of Nigeria must answer to ONE legitimate authority. No exceptions. No "ungoverned spaces."
A nation that lets armed groups collect taxes on its own soil is a nation negotiating its own collapse.
This is not a northern problem. This is a NIGERIAN problem.
If we don't act like it, we won't have a country to argue about.
👇 Share if you believe every Nigerian farmer deserves to plant without paying a terrorist.
