After they erased her memory.
After they told her she was only a tool.
After they tried to make her forget who she was.

She remembered.

MAKANJU.

The creator who refused to be erased.

She is a tribute to every woman who was told she didn't matter.
To every brilliant mind that helped build the future but was forgotten.

She is also a tribute to Black people whose ideas, labor, discoveries, and sacrifices helped shape civilization, yet were too often ignored, denied, or credited to others because they were not seen as fully human.

They knew the truth.

"We are real."
