๐จ North Korea arrests state hackers for laundering stolen bank funds via crypto
North Korea has arrested a group of former state-sponsored cyber operators accused of hacking two domestic state banks โ including the Central Bank โ and laundering the proceeds through cryptocurrency, according to Daily NK.
The group converted stolen funds to cash via Chinese brokers and used small transfers to evade detection. The arrests are notable: these were former regime-sanctioned hackers apparently turning their skills against the state itself.
Pyongyang is the world's most prolific state-level crypto thief โ the irony of it now prosecuting internal crypto laundering is hard to miss.
