๐ณ๐ฌ FG launches 48 mini-grids to power 19 states
Nigeria's Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has launched 48 interconnected mini-grid projects across 19 states, in a federal push to expand electricity access beyond the national grid.
The projects will deliver 252,000 new connections and 213.3 megawatt-peak of solar capacity, targeting communities currently underserved by the main grid.
Nigeria's electricity access gap remains one of the largest in Africa, with tens of millions of households relying on generators or no power at all. The mini-grid initiative forms part of the government's broader renewable energy strategy.
