THE CHILDREN OF TIME
Episode III: The Day Pride Mistook Itself for Strength
Strength had become difficult to find. So the world crowned Pride instead. Pride stood upon mountains and called itself unconquerable. It walked into every room before its owner and left only after everyone had noticed. "I kneel before no one," Pride would boast.
The crowds applauded. Not far away walked Humility.
Few noticed when Humility entered a room. It carried no trumpet, wore no crown and demanded no seat of honor.
Yet strangely, wherever Humility lingered, peace often followed. One afternoon they met. Pride laughed.
"So this is the famous Humility? You look far too ordinary to be remembered." Humility smiled.
"I have never desired to be remembered." Pride laughed even louder. "Then you have already lost."
Years passed. Pride won arguments. Humility built relationships. Pride collected admirers. Humility earned trust. Pride climbed quickly. Humility climbed quietly. Then came the day every soul must eventually meet. Failure. Pride had never prepared for Failure.
The first defeat shattered the image Pride had spent a lifetime protecting. Every compliment became a burden. Every criticism became an unbearable wound.
Pride fell.
Humility stumbled too but Humility had practiced falling every day. It admitted mistakes before they became disasters. It accepted correction before correction became humiliation. It asked for help before weakness became collapse. So Humility rose again. Watching from a distance, Time finally spoke.
"The strongest tree is not the one that refuses to bend but the one that survives the storm." Only then did many understand. Pride had mistaken applause for strength. Humility had quietly become it.
