@Ojyokpe Kaigma’s declaration became the spark that lit insecurity in the country.
He stood at the middle of the dusty and messy conversation.
For years, the community had waited for help that never arrived. Promises came from the state government, but action did not. Soldiers patrolled occasionally, but the terrorists who preyed on rural communities always returned once the trucks rolled away.

So Kaigma spoke the words that changed everything:

“We must protect ourselves. Independently. Without interference. Our safety cannot wait for permission.”
