I like to share my experience at a voter registration event in Ogun state, with you guys. Early morning Wednesday morning, 25th of July,2026, my community secretary sent an emergency post, informing of INEC officials coming to our area for voters registration by 8 a.m. I got there at 9am. There were lots of people on line, and many more sitting around. I asked one lady about the procedure, she told me to sit down, and I sat. Two hours after sitting, I went to the same lady. She said that I have to get a number first. So, I said why didn't you tell me that earlier, because people who came after me were ahead of me now. To my surprise, she became offended. I joined a line. When it got to my turn, the lady serving the line directed me to another line.while waiting on the new line for another hour, a fight broke out on the former line. I took out my phone to do some video of the situation. All of a sudden, about six guys just came from nowhere, trying to grab my phone. I was thrown off guard, but I didn't let go my phone. The situation got to the point of pushing and shoving. They were tugging at my shoulder bag. They were young, I couldn't handle all of them, so I let go the bag and the phone. They gave my phone to someone called chairman. They emptied my bag. Since they found nothing of interest, I got my bag back. But where's my phone? Someone said, chairman got it. So I went to go search for chairman. I found him, got my phone back. I said " what did I do wrong?" He laughed, and said, " why are you doing video here?" I explained,"a fight broke out, I just want to capture the scene for reference purpose". He said,"we don't allow video recording here". I looked around and said," I don't see any sign or warning reflecting that, I'm sorry". He said,"next time let me know first". I said thank you sir. When I checked my time at that time, it was 2:30pm., time to go home. I ended up not able to achieve what I left home early to do. But then I reflected back, perhaps if I had given N5k to an official, I wouldn't have through all that unnecessary trouble. That experience confirmed 2 things in my mind. One, we have become, with a reason, a class society. Two, big loophole exists for bribery and corruption to thrive. Tell me what you think please.
