⚖️ EU sanctions 14 crypto firms tied to Russia in latest package
The European Union's 21st sanctions package targets 14 cryptocurrency platforms across six jurisdictions for allegedly facilitating sanctions evasion on behalf of Russia.
The package introduces a new enforcement mechanism that bans crypto firms in third countries from operating if they are found to be helping sanctioned individuals or entities. EU member states have been given enforcement deadlines in August to implement the measures.
This marks one of the broadest crypto-specific actions in the EU's ongoing sanctions campaign against Russia, reflecting growing regulatory pressure on platforms operating outside the bloc that serve sanctioned networks.
