Guardiola Turns Down Italy Job, Opts For Break From Football

Pep Guardiola has rejected the offer to become Italy's next head coach, choosing instead to take an extended break from management following his departure from Manchester City after 10 seasons.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola "said no" to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after considering the proposal. The 55-year-old says he does not want to return to management "for a while" and wants to dedicate time to his family.

FIGC president Giovanni Malago had confirmed talks with Guardiola and suggested financial exceptions could be made to accommodate him. Italy are searching for a new manager after failing to qualify for this summer's World Cup.

With Guardiola out of the picture, attention has now turned to Andrea Pirlo as the federation continues its search for a successor.
