FT: 0-5 win…. Promising performance overall. We looked a bit flat in the opening stages, but once the team settled into the game, the quality started to show.

Andrey Santos was the standout for me. Credit to whoever identified and pushed for that signing because he’s a serious player. His game reminds me a lot of Caicedo always in the right areas, aggressive in duels, calm under pressure and he moves the ball intelligently. He reads situations exceptionally well.

One tactical tweak that caught my eye was Yoro at right-back. It’s an interesting move from Carrick. Playing him outside his natural role could help develop other aspects of his game, and honestly, he didn’t look out of place. It might become a genuine option going forward.

Mount looks sharp and ready for the season. Now the biggest challenge is keeping him fit because his quality has never been in doubt.

Mbeumo still looks like he’s building match rhythm, which is understandable. A few more games and he should be where he needs to be.

Zirkzee’s solo goal was pure class. He quietly put together a decent all-round performance too. Performances like that certainly won’t hurt his reputation. 😁

The funniest part is I’m still trying to figure out exactly what Carrick’s football is. Some phases look possession-heavy, then suddenly we’re devastating on the counter. Maybe that’s the idea, being adaptable rather than predictable.

Either way, the improvement from the Wrexham game was obvious. Carrick Ball is starting to take shape and it’s good to see it back.
