President Tinubu Approves Expansion of Nigerian Army to 12 Divisions, Recruitment of 28,000 Personnel

President Bola Tinubu has approved a major restructuring of the Nigerian Army, expanding its structure from eight to 12 divisions and authorising the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel, in a bid to strengthen the country's security architecture.

The Presidency announced the approval in a statement on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the decision reflects Tinubu's commitment to equipping the Armed Forces to tackle Nigeria's evolving security challenges and reinforce national defence capabilities.
