Verbal Agreement, Trust and friendship in business. My Agony.
Hi ChinnyT, I'm one of your followers here on LekeeLekee, please help me share this story on your page because I need public opinions and advice on the way forward.

I had a very good friend whom I took as a twins sister, people calls us twice cos we were always together in every occasions, even when she wasn't invited but I was I normally take her with me because of my prestige and influence in the society. Fast forward to 2022 April, she came to my house with her husband to discuss a business proposal with me and my husband, it was about floor tiles business which is her own line of business (even though she wasn't doing so well financially). They asked me and my husband to help them procure one full trailer load of floor tiles that after selling, the profit will be shared amongst us the ladies. My husband initially said no to the proposal but after my continuous begging and persuasion he agreed. With his contact he paid over #5m for the goods, also covered loading and transportion from Lagos to Asaba here. Fast forward to 2024, two year after the business, profit we never see not to talk of the over #5m capital. After several attempts to recover my money as I have already started having serious problems with my husband, I was served from the state high court. My friend has taken me to court on the ground that the goods we gave her to sell was a gift for friendship and was never ment to be returned.

We have been in court since 2024 till date. Please use your page to ask for advice and the way forward. I must confess I have already thought of going native ( traditional way) on them .

I will drop the receipt of payment and every payments made so you can see.
Thank you.

Mild Uchenna: Trust is important, but in business, trust should always be backed by documentation. Friendship should never replace proper agreements. Since the matter is already in court, let the law take its course. Avoid taking the traditional route, as it could create even bigger problems.

Rejoice Osunwoke: There should have been a formal and clear-cut agreement from the start. Since there is evidence of payments and the matter is in court, I bet justice would be served.

Ibrahim noah: Money and friendship are two enemies. But always fill they love each other, like fake love. The verdict is the other good friend should stay away from such friend and face the court judgment with evidence of her clean role in the deal. Surely she will smile at the end. Comfort Yako Asala: This is a lesson to never embark on a verbal agreement with people especially the ones closest to us.
Madam, going diabolical will worsen the situation.
Find way to create a recorded conversation with her where you will chip in words that will make her reveal the truth of the matter.
I believe it...
Gladden Ngozi: A 'friend' who turns a 5-million-naira investment into a 'gift' in court was never your friend, she was a predator wearing a sister's mask. I'm furious for you but please don't let her push you into doing something that will hurt your case.
Let the receipts speak. Justice may be slow, but it's not...
