MEMORISE: Psalm 100:2
“Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”

This verse is a call to joyful, active worship.

BIBLE READING: Luke 17:12-19
This passage records the healing of ten lepers. As Jesus entered a certain village, ten lepers stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” Jesus told them, “Go show yourselves unto the priests.” As they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell at Jesus’ feet, giving Him thanks. He was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were there not ten cleansed? where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.” Then He said to the man, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”

The Nine Who Received Healing but Not Wholeness
“In today’s Bible reading, ten lepers cried unto Jesus for mercy, and He told them to go and show themselves to the priests. As they went, they discovered that they were healed, but only one of them returned to say ‘Thank you’ to Jesus.”

The Nine Lepers The One Leper
Received healing Received healing
Kept walking Turned back
Did not return to thank Jesus Returned glorifying God with a loud voice
Received cleansing Received wholeness (extra miracle)
“He returned praising and glorifying God with a loud voice. He was not shy about giving thanks to God, and Jesus gave him an extra miracle; He made him whole.”

What the Nine Got What the One Got
Cleansing from leprosy Cleansing + wholeness
Physical healing Physical and spiritual completeness
A gift A gift plus an extra blessing
“An African adage says that a child who is grateful for a gift he or she receives today will definitely receive more gifts in the future.”

Ingratitude Gratitude
Closes the door to further blessing Opens the door for more
Takes the gift but forgets the Giver Honors the Giver and invites more
The nine received nothing else The one received wholeness
“When you give thanks to the Almighty God for what He has done for you, beyond retaining what He has given you, you will also position yourself to receive more from Him.”

Thanksgiving: The First Step to Sustaining Freedom
Thanksgiving does not just acknowledge past deliverance; it secures future blessings. The one leper did not just receive healing—he received wholeness. His thanksgiving unlocked what the nine missed.

What Thanksgiving Does What Lack of Thanksgiving Does
Positions you for more Leaves you with only what you have
Honors the Giver Takes the gift and forgets the Source
Completes the miracle Leaves the miracle incomplete
Seals your deliverance Leaves the door open for the enemy
Perpetual Worship: Naaman’s Decision
“Worshipping God perpetually is another step to sustaining deliverance and freedom. In 2 Kings 5:1-17, God delivered Naaman from the yoke of leprosy. After his deliverance, Naaman made up his mind that he would only worship the Almighty God for the rest of his life, and I am sure that his deliverance remained permanent.”

Naaman’s Condition Naaman’s Decision
Leprous, desperate, hopeless After healing: “I will worship no other god but the Lord”
Needed deliverance Made a vow of perpetual worship
Received cleansing Secured permanent freedom through worship
2 Kings 5:17 – “And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for henceforth thy servant will offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.”

“You must also make up your mind that you will spend your life worshipping God and Him alone.”

Worshipping Perpetually Worshipping Occasionally
A lifestyle, not an event A Sunday activity, not a daily posture
Keeps your heart focused on God Leaves room for other loyalties
Maintains your deliverance Risks the enemy’s return
Have a Place of Worship
“You should also have a place where you can meet with God to worship Him regularly, regardless of its size or unconventional nature. I remember a time when the only place I could worship God without disturbance was in my bathroom.”

Your Place of Worship Why It Matters
It does not have to be a church building Worship is about the heart, not the architecture
It does not have to be large or impressive A closet, a bathroom, a corner of your room
It just needs to be regular Consistency builds spiritual strength
“You should also ensure that your heart is always prepared to worship Him at all times.”

A Prepared Heart An Unprepared Heart
Ready to worship anytime, anywhere Only worships when conditions are perfect
Worships in spirit and truth Worships out of habit or obligation
Keeps the deliverance secure Invites the enemy back
Genuine Service: The Mad Man of Gadara
“Another key to sustaining deliverance and freedom is to serve God genuinely and wholeheartedly. When the Lord takes away a fellow’s burdens, the fellow should serve Him..
