You can have the best oil in the world, but if it isn't moving, your engine will die. The oil pump is what pushes the oil around to every corner of the engine.

Warning signs of a failing pump:

The Light on the Dashboard: If that little oil can light comes on, stop. That light is the car telling you, "I have no oil pressure."

Knocking Noises: If you hear a loud "ticking" or "knocking" sound coming from the engine, it’s often because parts are moving without enough oil.

Running Hot: If the oil isn't circulating, it can't carry heat away, so the engine gets hotter than it should.

Simple Tip: Never, ever ignore an oil warning light on your dashboard. If you see it, pull over and turn the engine off. Driving just a few more minutes with no oil pressure can destroy your engine completely.
