When Oil Gets "Contaminated"
Sometimes, your oil gets mixed with things that shouldn't be there, like water or fuel. When this happens, the oil stops doing its job.

How to know if your oil is "dirty" in a bad way:

It looks like milk: If your oil looks milky or like chocolate milk, it means water is mixing in. This is very bad and usually means there is a serious internal leak.

It smells like fuel: If your oil smells like gas, it means fuel is leaking into the oil pan. This thins out the oil so it can't protect the engine.

You see little shiny metal bits: If you see tiny sparkles in the oil, that’s actually bits of your engine grinding away.

Simple Tip: Every time you change your oil, always change the oil filter too. The filter catches the dirt so it doesn't get into your engine.
