President Tinubu Flags Off Training of 5,000 Smart Meter Technicians, Vows Improved Electricity Supply

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday flagged off the training of 5,000 young Nigerians in smart meter installation under the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI), assuring citizens that ongoing power sector reforms would lead to a more transparent, accountable, and efficient electricity industry.

The President also revealed plans to scale up the initiative to accommodate as many as 500,000 participants nationwide, describing the programme as a major driver of job creation and skills development that would support broader reforms in the electricity sector.
