Not revenge. Not retribution. Truth. Reconciliation. Democracy.

Every July 18, the world celebrates Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. We post the quotes. We share the fist. We feel the inspiration.

But here's the uncomfortable question:

Do our politics still choose principle over power?

Do our institutions still protect the voiceless?

Do we, as citizens, still have the courage to build bridges across the divides that cost him half his life?

Mandela Day isn't a memory. It's a mirror.
