Enugu Air Aircraft Involved in Runway Incursion at Benin Airport, No Injuries Reported
An Enugu Air aircraft was involved in a runway incursion shortly after landing at Benin Airport on Thursday, the airline has confirmed. All passengers and crew on board disembarked safely and there were no injuries or casualties.
In a statement released to the public, Enugu Air said the incident occurred "after landing today" while the aircraft was operating into Benin. The airline did not specify the flight number or the type of aircraft involved.
"We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties," the statement read. "The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures."
According to the airline, an assessment of both the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway. Aviation authorities are expected to lead the investigation to determine what led to the incursion.
A runway incursion refers to any unauthorized presence of an aircraft, vehicle, or person on a runway. It can disrupt airport operations and typically triggers immediate safety protocols.
