π¨ #ThrowBackThursday: JONATHAN vs TINUBU π³π¬π₯
"When Was Life Easier for the Average Nigerian?"
The economy has become one of the hottest topics in Nigeria today, and for this #ThrowBackThursday, let's take a trip down memory lane.
Many Nigerians remember a time when:
β½ Petrol sold for about β¦87 per litre
π A 50kg bag of rice cost around β¦8,000ββ¦10,000
π Bread sold for about β¦150ββ¦250
π₯ A crate of eggs cost roughly β¦500ββ¦800
π΅ The Naira traded around β¦160ββ¦200 per US Dollar
Now, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu:
β½ Petrol is over β¦1,200 per litre (in many places)
π A 50kg bag of rice is over β¦70,000
π Bread now sells for about β¦1,200ββ¦2,500
π₯ A crate of eggs now costs β¦5,000ββ¦7,000+
π΅ The Naira has weakened significantly against the US Dollar, while the cost of living has risen sharply.
Supporters of the current administration argue that difficult reforms today are necessary to build a stronger economy tomorrow. Critics, however, say many families are struggling to cope with the rising cost of food, transport and other essentials.
π€ So let's settle this in the comments...
If you had to judge ONLY by the cost of living and your personal experience, which era was better for the average Nigerian?
Goodluck Jonathan's era. OR
Bola Ahmed Tinubu's era
π¬ Don't just voteβtell us WHY. Your reason matters.
β οΈ Please keep the discussion respectful. No insults, no tribal or political abuse. Let's debate with facts and personal experiences.
