IT'S YOURS TO SETTLE

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Romans 12:19 (KJV)

One of the hardest battles in the Christian life is not the battle against sin, temptation, or even persecution. Sometimes, the hardest battle is the battle against bitterness.
When people hurt us, betray us, disappoint us, or treat us unfairly, something within us cries out for justice. We want them to feel what we felt. We want them to experience the pain they caused.

But God gives us a different instruction:
"Vengeance is Mine; I will repay."
Notice that God did not say the offense did not matter. He did not say to pretend the pain never happened. He did not say justice would never come. Rather, He said: "Leave it in My hands."

Many believers are exhausted because they are carrying burdens God never asked them to carry. They have become judges, prosecutors, and debt collectors over offenses committed against them.
Yet God is saying: "Hand Me the bill."
The same mercy that forgave us is the mercy that empowers us to release others.

At the cross, Jesus carried our debts, our failures, and our sins. He paid what we could never pay ourselves. If God settled our account through Christ, then we can trust Him to handle those who have wronged us.
Forgiveness does not mean approving evil.
Forgiveness means trusting God enough to let Him be God.

Some battles are won not by fighting harder, but by surrendering them to the Lord.
Today, release the offense.
Release the anger.
Release the desire for revenge.
Give God room to work.

What bitterness cannot accomplish, God's justice can.
What your anger cannot change, God's grace can.
And what revenge can never heal, God can restore.

Reflection Questions
Is there anyone whose offense you are still carrying?

Have you been trying to collect a debt that belongs to God?

What would change if you truly handed the matter over to Him?

Prayer
Father,
You know every wound, every betrayal, every disappointment, and every injustice I have experienced.
Today, I surrender every offense into Your hands.
I refuse to carry what belongs to You.
Where bitterness has taken root, let Your grace uproot it.
Where anger has lingered, let Your peace reign.
Teach me to trust Your justice more than my revenge and Your wisdom more than my emotions.
I declare that every matter I cannot handle is Yours to settle.
In Jesus' mighty name,
