NOT WHEN IT'S EASY

Matthew 19:19-22 KJV
[19] Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [20] The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? [21] Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. [22] But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

One of the ways to know a warrior is when there is war or during war. A warrior cannot be said to be a warrior because of his body build or through his words. You may be able to speak or narrate the stories of war but that does not confer on a man the status of a warrior. It is only at the war front that a warrior can be identified. In other words, it is only when there is a tough situation that you will know a tough person and not how much knowledge or description you can give about a tough man.
The young man in the text came to Jesus to ask about what it takes to have eternal life. When Jesus told him about the need to obey the Ten Commandments, he responded quickly that he had been obeying all those right from when he was a youth. But when Jesus took it further, the young man went back and was no more interested in eternal life. This shows that when the instruction was convenient, he was doing it with all passion but when it demanded something extra, he changed his mind.
Beloved, the love for and obedience to God should not be exercised only when it is convenient. The only thing that shows that you honour God is that you abide by His instruction not only when it is convenient but even when it is not. You do not carry out your financial obligation to God only when you have enough but even when there are not enough resources. You do not pay your tithe only when you are sure that the money is enough for your upkeep but doing it even when it is not enough or convenient.
You do not come to Church on Sunday because there is a public holiday but will do everything possible to attend midweek activities because of your love for God. The love for God can only be confirmed to be genuine when it is expressed at all times irrespective of the situation. It takes a fair weather believer to carry out the instructions of God only when it is convenient. Let your relationship with God be solidified by being obedient even when it is not convenient.

Daily Task
Mention five things that can help you to serve God even when it's not convenient.

Prayers
Father, I receive grace to serve You when it is not convenient.
Lord, I receive courage to do Your will at all time.
