I got married to my husband traditionally while I was pregnant with our son. Three months after I gave birth, he traveled to South Africa.
Our son is now 14 years old, in JSS 3, and has never seen his father in person. The only relationship they have is through video calls, which happen just five or six times a year. Throughout these 14 years, I have continued to live in my parents’ house.
My husband is the only one who can successfully call us. Whenever I try to call the same number, it never goes through. I’ve asked him several times why, and he always says it’s probably a network issue.
Whenever I ask him for financial support, he tells me he’s trying to save enough money to build a better future for us. He asks me to keep managing things on my own, saying he knows I’ve been running my late mother’s shop since she passed away.
Every year, he promises to come home in December. But when December arrives, he comes up with one excuse after another and postpones his trip until the following year.
Three years ago, I met a young man who has been there for me emotionally, financially, and physically, even though he knows I am married.
A few weeks ago, my husband told me that he would definitely be returning home this year. He also warned that if he discovered I had been involved with another man, he would end our marriage.
Now, the man I’ve been seeing has given me an ultimatum. He says I should either leave my husband and marry him or continue waiting for my husband and let him go.
I’m truly torn between two difficult choices and don’t know what to do. I sincerely need your honest advice. 🙏👇
