Chelsea Sign Morgan Rogers From Aston Villa in British Record £117m Deal

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a British record £117 million, making the 23-year-old the most expensive British player in history.

Rogers has signed a contract until 2033, eclipsing the £107m Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez in 2023. The deal also sees Chelsea beat Arsenal to a player Mikel Arteta had made a primary target.

In his first interview, Rogers cited conversations with manager Xabi Alonso as "a massive factor" in his decision, saying the Spaniard's footballing philosophy aligned with his own vision. He also described Chelsea as "the biggest club in London" — a comment widely seen as a dig at Arsenal.
