I asked Grok this because I was curious how AI would approach a real problem I’ve encountered in the field.

“What could cause a hybrid inverter to display an error code that isn’t in the manual?”

The answer was good. Technically accurate, even.

But it reminded me of something years of installing and troubleshooting solar systems have taught me.

Experience is often just a collection of problems you’ve already solved.

AI can list the possible causes.

Experience tells you which one to investigate first, what questions to ask the client, and what the manual doesn’t tell you.

That’s why I don’t see AI replacing experienced engineers.

I see AI making experienced engineers more efficient.

The future belongs to people who combine AI with real-world experience.
