Nigeria spends 4 billion every year importing steel.
We sit on iron ore. We have the land. We have the people.
We spend 4 billion anyway.
90% of our freight moves by road.
Corridets choked. Ports gridlocked. Apapa alone bleeds 2 billion in logistics waste every single year.
We have the route. We have the need. We have the workforce.
We burn 2 billion anyway.
Every year, the same two solutions hit the table:
A steel industry that works.
A rail network that connects.
Every year, they get discussed. PowerPointed. Committee'd.
Every year, they get deferred.
Here's the thing.
This isn't a tragedy. This isn't a prayer point. This isn't another "Nigeria has potential" sermon.
This is a business case.
While we wait, someone else is building the steel plants. Someone else is laying the tracks. Someone else is collecting the 6 billion we voluntarily give away annually 6 billion that could stay here, employ here, multiply here.
The market isn't the problem. The demand isn't the problem. The capital isn't even the problem.
The decision is.
Stop discussing. Start building. The money is already there, it's just leaving.
Nigeria doesn't need more meetings. It needs more steel in the ground.
