Yesterday (Monday), I visited a pastor, and one thing he told me stayed in my heart: "Find your peace."

After praying and going for confession, I made a personal decision. I wanted to leave my past behind by selling the things I acquired from a bad source and start life afresh. To me, that was part of finding peace with God, with myself, and with my future.

On Sunday, I tried to begin the process, but a concerned neighbor stopped me. Today, I packed my belongings again to sell them and restart my life, but once more I was stopped. My neighbor even followed me to where I wanted to sell the items.

I didn't fully understand everything that happened. I wasn't acting out of confusion or trying to harm myself. I was making a personal decision to move on from my past.

Before leaving, I asked the shop owner who claim to be an officer to pay the keke rider 5000 who helped transport my belongings. My neighbor because I owed him ₦45,000 Later, I was told the payment had not been made and that my belongings had been taken back home.

The entire situation has left me with many questions. I appreciate that people may have been acting out of concern, but I also believe adults should be allowed to make personal decisions about their own lives, especially when they are trying to turn away from wrongdoing and start over.

I am sharing this because I want people to think about it. Have you ever tried to change your life for the better but found yourself being stopped or misunderstood? Sometimes, choosing peace can be the hardest decision to explain.
