FROM "WHY ME?" TO "WHY YOU?"
I asked the heavens, "Why me?"
Why this road that seemed to climb when others found valleys? Why these burdens that spoke my name before I was strong enough to answer?
Why must my nights be longer than my mornings?
Why must my heart break for wounds that were never mine? Why do I hear the silent cries hidden beneath loud smiles? Why do I carry what others can simply walk past? And heaven... was strangely quiet.
Not because God had no answer, but because answers can become excuses when sons have not yet become builders. So He answered me without words.
He answered with wilderness.
He answered with waiting.
He answered through closed doors, misunderstood intentions, empty hands and prayers that echoed longer than I thought faith could survive.
I mistook His silence for absence,
not knowing He was carving pillars where I only saw pain. Years later, I stood before storms that would have buried the man I used to be. Yet somehow...
I remained standing. Not because I had become stronger but because the One who held me together had become stronger in me.
Then I understood. The question had never been,
"Why me?" The question was preparing me to hear another. As I looked at the frightened, the weary, the forgotten, the abandoned, the broken-hearted, the exhausted fathers, the anxious mothers, the wandering sons, the silent daughters, the leaders carrying nations and the strangers carrying invisible grief. I heard the Builder ask, "If not you... then who?"
Who will remain when everyone else leaves?
Who will speak peace when fear has become fashionable? Who will build instead of merely criticize? Who will carry hope without demanding applause? Who will hold the line when compromise becomes convenient? Who will become a shelter because they remember what it felt like to stand in the rain?
Then I knew. My journey was never punishment.
It was apprenticeship. The weight was never rejection.
It was conditioning. The delays was never denial.
It was construction. God was not merely answering my prayers. He was answering someone else's prayer....through the person He was making me become.
So today, I no longer ask, "Why me?"
Instead I whisper, "Lord... if You have counted me as worthy to carry what strengthens others, teach me to carry it well. Keep my heart tender, my hands clean, my knees bent, and my eyes fixed on the true Foundation. For beams do not choose the houses they support. They simply trust the wisdom of the Master Builder." And perhaps, when history remembers the great towers of faith, it will never know the names of the hidden beams, but heaven will.
For the greatest lives are not always those that stood the tallest but those that refused to let others fall
So if your life feels heavier than the applause around you, if your calling is less about being noticed and more about making sure others do not fall, if your victories are measured by the number of peopl ewho stood again because you refused to leave. Do not despise your formation.
