JUST IN: The Department of State Service (DSS) SET TO APPEAL LIFE SENTENCE ON ANSARU TERROR COMMANDERS.
The DSS is set to appeal the life sentence handed to two top commanders of the Ansaru Terror organization by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Emeka Nwite sentenced Mahmud Usman (aka Abu Bara’a/Abbas/Mukhtar), the self-styled Emir of Ansaru, and Abubakar Abba (aka Mahmud al-Nigeri/Malam Mamuda) to life imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to all 32-count charges.
A top DSS official described the sentence as too lenient for the gravity of their crimes and would appeal for a death sentence instead at the Court of Appeal.
