Nico Williams's mother, María Arthuer, walked nearly 2,000 miles from Ghana to Spain in seek of asylum, while pregnant with his older brother Iñaki Williams, who now plays for Ghana's national football team.

Nico Williams grew up to assist the historic goal that won Spain their second ever World Cup, cementing his name in the tournament's history. Then, he gave his precious winner's medal to his mom, celebrating and honoring her in front of the world.
